We’re on a mission to promote sustainable fishing and nutritious consumption through great quality products, education and community connection.

We grow happy fish in the most healthy, generative ecosystems, and are deeply committed to supporting healthy communities and a thriving environment.

We know sustainability and community care is an ongoing journey, and have big goals to deliver high-quality products whilst caring deeply for our land, and supporting a more connected society.

We also like to have a lot of fun, and can’t wait to see you at the farm!

TRADITIONAL OWNERS

We acknowledge the traditional owners of the land on which we live, raise our fish and support our community; the Dhudhuroa people. Their ancestors have been caring for this land, these waterways and their inhabitants for millenia. Dhudhuroa elders hold wisdom of sustainable fishing, regenerative land management and reciprocal community care. Wisdom we aspire to learn from and honour in our practices.

We believe in, and are committed to, working alongside present elders, emerging leaders and their community to engage in the process of decolonisation and cultivating reciprocal and right relationships.

OUR SUSTAINABILITY PRACTICES

Sustainable fish farming plays a pivotal role in supporting the regeneration and protection of the ocean's and river’s fish supply, addressing critical challenges facing marine and freshwater ecosystems. Overfishing, driven by increasing global demand for seafood, has led to a decline in wild fish populations. Sustainable aquaculture provides an alternative by producing fish in a controlled environment, reducing the pressure on natural stocks.

We aspire to go one step further than sustainability, towards regeneration.

WHAT IS REGENERATIVE AQUACULTURE?

At its core, regenerative aquaculture is about raising healthy, happy fish in a way that promotes biodiversity, enhances water quality, and even helps restore degraded habitats.

We’re lucky enough to be located at the base of Mt Feathertop in the Victorian High Country, where fresh mountain streams run directly into our natural ponds - free from contamination.

Working towards regenerative aquaculture is an ongoing journey requiring plenty of innovation and creativity.

Carbon Capture

We grow lush grass and gardens to increase carbon sequestration, and are aiming to fill every nook and cranny we can with vegetables and edible plants.

Temperature Control

We minimise use of concrete and hard surfaces for paths, and mulch our garden refuse to reduce heat and moisture loss for weed control and improved tree and soil health.

Minimal chemical use

Wherever we can we use natural products and methods for pest control including weeding our gorgeous (and huge!) gardens by hand.

Waste management

Reduce, reuse, recycle is the motto! This includes:

  • Composting all our fish waste to use for fertiliser,

  • Reuse as many materials as we can

  • Buying second hand equipment, furniture and bits and bobs where practical

Renewable energy

We have extensive solar networks that power the farm

Permaculture principals

We’ve got a very cute family of chickens that roam the gardens and help keep the insects under control. Keep an eye out for the sheep we’ll be welcoming to the farm soon!

Research

We partner with local and international universities and education initiatives to support research in sustainable aquaculture and best practice for raising healthy fish.

Plus we know its everyday decisions that all add up. We drive electric vehicles and shop locally wherever possible, and do all our own local deliveries to minimise excess transport.
